Out of the frying pan: Some rare gastronomic lexemes in Old Tamil
How did people cook food in ancient Tamil Nadu, and where did they do it? What kinds of food did they eat, and what ingredients did they use? This talk will explore some rare and difficult words in Old Tamil on this theme, and draw parallels between Tamil and Sanskrit literature, archaeological finds, and modern Tamil practice.
