Classical Tamil Summer Seminar 2025, Budapest

The Classical Tamil Summer Seminar (CTSS) will be held this year in Budapest, Hungary, organised by the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Eötvös Loránd University.
This two-week program will have two parts: the first week will be devoted to reading the twenty-fourth Kuṉṟakkuravai chapter of the Cilappatikāram, and in the second week, we will read Cēramāṉ Perumāḷ's Tirukkailāya Ñāṉavulā. Each morning, participants will engage in two reading sessions (9:00–10:30 and 11:00–12:30), complemented by afternoon lectures and additional text readings (14:00–15:30 and 16:00–17:00).
Sessions will take place at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, during the first week. The second week will be hosted at the Department of Indology at Eötvös Loránd University.
Due to limited capacity, participation is subject to prior registration via this online form. The program fee is 100 EUR, with a reduced fee of 70 EUR for university students. Proficiency in Classical Tamil is a prerequisite for applying. Each participant is responsible for their own accommodation and meals.
